Peggy Freeman Bates

Peggy Freeman Bates, 70, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Rex Healthcare surrounded by her family. Born on July 28, 1944 in Huntsville, AL; she was the daughter of Myra Lowery Freeman and the late Albert Monroe Freeman.

Peggy and her husband Bill relocated with IBM into the area in 1979. She retired from IBM as a supervisor after 22 years of service. Outside of her family, she has been a faithful member of Holly Springs United Methodist Church, singing in the choir, participating in yard sales and bake sales and finding her circle of friends within the United Women of the UMC to have lunch and travel with.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 35 years, William “Bill” Bates, Jr., of Fuquay-Varina; her children: Tammy Solomon, of Cibolo, TX, Audrey England and husband Jeff, of Huntington, WV, Jeffrey Solomon, Sr. and wife Christy, of Fuquay-Varina and William C. “Billy” Bates III, of Huntsville, AL; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her father; her daughter, Sherry Solomon Jones; her son, David Solomon; and by her brother, Albert Monroe “Buddy” Freeman, Jr.

Family will receive friends this Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Apex Funeral Home, with Funeral Services to be held on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 11 AM at Holly Springs United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Wake Chapel Memorial Gardens in Fuquay-Varina.
