On Monday, September 14, 2020, Peter Lee Spoone, loving husband, father of two beautiful daughters, mentor and friend to everyone, lost his battle with cancer at the age of 63 at UNC hospital, surrounded by family.

Peter was born May 20, 1957 at Fort Jackson in South Carolina. In 1983 he married the love of his life, Diane (Prugar) and had two daughters, Corbett and Shelby. In 2008, Peter fulfilled his dream of owning his own company, Carolinas Medical Repair, which lives on through his memory today and will continue to grow in his honor.

Peter had a passion for making people laugh and enjoy life, he absolutely loved music, especially live. Motorcycle rides were his favorite and he tinkered in the shop whenever possible.

Pete was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and Rusty Spoone and cousin, Jay Rickman. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane; daughters, Corbett Margagliotti (Tyler Margagliotti) and Shelby Spoone (Chris Cable); grandson Gaetano Margagiotti.

The Spoone Family will receive friends and family from 1:00pm-3:00pm on Tuesday, September 22 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. Apex, NC 27502. A funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel.

Searched and searched for the right plant in memory of Pete, but sorry not successful. It had to be a Cactus with tough prickles, but with a beautiful flower growing from the center because that's how we will always remember Pete. He wanted to put up the hard and tough outside appearance but inside was a warm and caring individual that we will miss forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

When I think of Pete I go back to the days as a young child, and the entire Spoone family coming to visit my family in South Carolina. We had some good times. My fondest memories are when Pete would come to various family events as we got older. I loved how he would dance when the opportunity would present itself. We had a blast. The most lasting memories are when Jay would talk about their bike rides. Jay would have a big smile on his face. He was a brother to Pete. They are both in heaven catching up on memories and good times. Pete Spoone, RIP. You will be missed.

Terrific memory having coffee with Pete the day Tyler asked Corbett to marry him and Thanksgiving weekend shooting billiards.... same weekend Tyler and Corbett announced her pregnancy.
Our loving prayers are with Diane, Corbett and Shelby.
