Ray was born in Pawtucket, RI on April 15, 1970, to Michael Young and Patricia Sullivan. He is survived by his fiancé Kimberley Winslow and her adoring son Macklin, his father Michael, brother Timothy and sister-in-law Venus as well as many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ray, or as many knew him as the Big Man, or BFR, grew up and spent his childhood in Pawtucket, RI. After high school, Ray enlisted into the United States Armed Services. In the Army, he served as a Military Police Officer, traveled the world and proudly served in the Desert Storm War (1990- 1991). After his service, Ray went on to become a correctional officer at the New Hampshire Correctional Facility for Women and Men. During his time as a correctional officer, he took night classes at Daniel Webster College and earned his bachelor’s degree. He gravitated towards financial services and networked to get a job at Fidelity Investments which would prove to be a pivotal point in his life. Ray found his calling and spent the remaining years of his life striving to help people plan for a better financial future, meeting customers on a one-on-one basis to discuss their retirement needs. Being able to advise people on the steps they needed to take to secure their future had a profound impact on Ray and was something in which he both excelled and took great pride. Over time, Ray was able to take his experience to help build and innovate new financial products and services which served thousands of clients over the years.
Ray lit up any room he entered. His presence was larger than life. He was a man with a huge heart, a magnanimous teacher and mentor, and always cared for those around him. He was a true leader - always willing to take time to get to know everyone and share his experience and knowledge. Ray was fiercely loyal, a friend first, and willing to help anyone in need. His presence was magnetic and unforgettable.
Ray strived to serve his community, volunteering at the New Hampshire food bank and The American Legion, Londonderry, NH.
A big fan of sports, Ray was an avid New York Giants, Yankees, and Boston Bruins fan and thrived in the dichotomy therein. He loved travelling to Nascar events in his RV with Kim, Macklin and his beloved French Bulldog, Odin. A dedicated animal lover, Ray cared for his dogs, horses, iguana, and bird as his family.
Ray’s legacy lives on through his fiancé Kim and her son Macklin, to whom he was lovingly devoted. He will truly be missed, and never forgotten.
Raymond, the Big Man, you will always be loved. We are forever thinking of you. Gone way too soon, you are forever and always in our hearts.
