Rebecca Goodwin Morris

Rebecca Goodwin Morris, 85, of New Hill, died on Saturday, January 25, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Morris was born on May 19, 1928 in Chatham Co, NC to Henry Macon Goodwin and Essie Agnes Stone Goodwin.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Cecil T. Morris; brother: Macon Goodwin; and sister: Grace Lisk.

Mrs. Morris is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Morris Gunter and husband, Jerry of New Hill; sisters: Peggy Jones of Angier, and Jo Fidler of Knightdale; sister-in-law: Virginia Horner of Merry Oaks; grandchildren: Michelle Gunter Everhart and husband, Sam; and Stephen Morris Gunter and wife, Corey; great grandchildren: Caroline Grace Everhart and Mason Thomas Gunter. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at New Hill Baptist Church. A funeral service will begin in the sanctuary of New Hill Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
