

Rex Donald Haynes, 91 of New Hill and recently Cary, passed away on July 5, 2026. Rex was born on August 17, 1934 in Gate City, VA to the late Gilbert and Laverne Haynes. Rex loved watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play and grow. That was one of his proudest accomplishments. Rex was a contractor and builder for many years. He also retired from Glaxo. He was a proud Marine, Master Mason (Lifetime member) and Shriner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother Lawrence and sisters Lois Addington of Oak Ridge, Tennessee and Barbara Harkleroad of Kingsport, Tennessee.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Katherine Holden Haynes; daughters Connie Graham (Donnie) of Chapin, SC and Sharron Bouquin (Doug) of Apex, NC. Four Grandchildren; Mitchell Graham (Krystal), Sarah Fischer (Robbie) both of Chapin, SC, Nicholas Bouquin (Drew) of Shreveport, LA and Nathaniel Bouquin (Sarah) of Raleigh, NC and seven Great Grandchildren; Tyler, Abigail, Rachel, Rhylee, Emily, Walker “Rex”, and Elizabeth. He is also survived by brothers, Richard Haynes (Lacele) of Gray, Tennessee and Butch Haynes (Pam) of Fuquay-Varina, NC; as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and guests on Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM at Apex Funeral Home. Following services, he will be laid to rest at New Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in New Hill, NC.
The family would also like to thank the doctors and the staff at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh for the excellent care and compassion they have shown during the last several months.
