Richard John Hoekstra

Richard John Hoekstra, better known as "Dick" or "Hooky" to friends and family, 82 of Fuquay Varina, passed away on September 13, 2026 surrounded by family. Richard was born on May 3, 1944 in Worcester, MA to the late, Peter and Trease Hoekstra. Richard worked 40 years as a machinist in Westborough, MA. He was a long time resident in Douglas, MA for 40 years. He enjoyed yardwork and gardening, keeping them in immaculate condition. He loved spending time with his family at home and on vacation. He was well known for his sense of humor and always could bring a laugh and a smile. Richard loved rock'n roll almost as much he loved Coca Cola, pizza, apple pie, Reeses, and vanilla ice cream with Elvis, Roy Orbison, and Johnny Cash being his favorites.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Khanna; three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Hoekstra; daughter, Holly (Hoekstra) Sault; son, Richard Hoekstra Jr; grandson, Thomas Sault; great grandson, Deven Khanna; son-in-law, Jon Sault; grandson-in-law, Atul Khanna; sister-in-law, Bonnie Wunschel; brother-in-law, Richard Wunschel; niece, Tara Wunschel; and niece, Heather Wunschel.
