Richard Rex Talladay

Richard was born on December 27, 1943, in Monroe, Michigan to the late Rex Edward Talladay and Emma Cleone Talladay (Buxton). He graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Cum Laude in 1966 from Eastern Michigan University, followed by a Master of Education in 1971 and an Education Specialist in 1985 from Wayne State University. Richard also held a general contractor’s license from the State of Michigan.

Richard grew up working on his family’s farm in Milan, MI and after graduating from college, married his loving wife Donna (Hofer) at Forest Avenue Baptist Church on May 6, 1967, in Ypsilanti, MI. He was a devoted and gifted teacher who dedicated himself to teaching math for both Port Huron Area School District and St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron, MI. When not teaching, Richard could be found working his construction business on weekends and in the summer, pursuing his other talent of building and remodeling. During these years, Richard and Donna raised their two children (Tammi and Todd) and were active members of Ross Bible Church in Port Huron, MI.

Upon retirement, Richard and Donna moved to Little River, South Carolina to be closer to their daughter who resided in North Carolina. After Richard built their new home, he pursued a new hobby of researching and teaching the history of the Bible. Richard spent countless hours documenting his research as well as building models replicating specific biblical locations. After Richard experienced health issues in 2016, he and Donna moved to Apex, North Carolina to be closer to their daughter.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Donna Talladay; daughter, Tammi Hayes (Tim) of Cary, NC; son, Todd Talladay (Fawn) of Nenana, AK; grandson, Austin Hayes and sister, Doris Lail of Schererville, IN.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on August 13, 2022, at Ambassador Presbyterian Church in Apex, NC. His final resting place will be at Wake Memorial Park, Cary, NC.
