Robert Braxton Batchelor, 47, of New Hill, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, in New Hill. Born in Wake County to Tammy Davis Batchelor and the late Charles Edward Batchelor, Robert lived a life full of energy, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those around him.
A fifth-generation well driller, Robert carried on his family's legacy with pride and skill. He dedicated countless hours to drilling wells for family members, ensuring that no one ever went without water. His mechanical talents were unmatched—he could build just about anything with his signature tool: Gorilla Tape. Whether it was fixing something around the house or crafting a creative solution on the fly, Robert’s ingenuity knew no bounds.
Robert had a heart of gold and an infectious spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Known for his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, he never met a stranger. His storytelling skills were legendary—he could make any tale come alive with vivid detail and humor. A natural comedian with a smooth-talking charm, Robert had the rare gift of making people smile no matter the situation.
He was deeply devoted to his mother, Tammy D. Batchelor of Apex, NC, sharing a strong bond rooted in love and care. He also shared his life with his beloved partner Kim Beckwith of New Hill, NC. Together they built a home filled with laughter and warmth.
Robert was the proud father of two daughters: Savannah Batchelor and Hailey Batchelor, both of Apex, NC. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Aubree, Alaiah, and Damali. His family also includes his aunt Lynn Jones of Apex; cousin Autumn Sehulster of Chapel Hill; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
From an early age, Robert’s long blond hair and bright blue eyes lit up every room he entered—always accompanied by his radiant smile. As he grew older, that same light shone through in everything he did. He loved life fiercely and lived each day as if it were his last.
Robert had many passions that brought him joy. He loved horror movies—both old classics and new releases—and was equally captivated by science fiction tales that sparked his imagination. An avid collector of swords, knives, and nunchakus, he appreciated craftsmanship and adventure alike.
His love for animals was profound; he had a natural instinct for connecting with them and found peace in the outdoors. Among all creatures great and small, one held a special place in his heart—his favorite cat “Boop-T.”
Robert’s adventurous spirit extended to motorcycles, four-wheelers, dirt bikes, fast cars—and especially to his beloved Chevy truck “Thumper.” He also had a passion for grilling; nothing delighted him more than cooking pork chops slathered in Carolina Treet BBQ sauce—a true family favorite.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles Edward Batchelor; niece Jessica Johnson; and nephew Charlie Johnson.
