Robert Lee Brisbin died peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2020 surrounded by his children. Born September 20, 1939, Bob grew up with his parents, Don and Wilma, on a farm in Eagle Grove, IA. He married Joanne Spangler on December 27, 1959 and they quickly grew their family to five in the following three years as he received his B.S from Iowa State and served two years in the US Army Corps of Engineers. A Masters of Forestry from Penn State bolstered his 33-year career as a wood scientist for the USDA Forest Service.
Bob’s passions included spending time with his children and grandchildren, serving his church, traveling and socializing with friends, fly fishing, and enjoying a wee dram of peaty single malt Scotch! He was a kind soul with eyes that were always smiling. He will be missed by so many.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Bob is survived by his son, Randy Lindsay-Brisbin and his wife, Melanie of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Leanne Brisbin and her husband, Keith Pedersen of Cary; daughter, Jolynne Fleck and her husband, Mike of Greensboro; "adopted" daughter, Mary Eberst of Pittsboro; and grandchildren Jenna, Luke, Tobi, Abby, Elizabeth and Matt. He is also survived by many other loving extended family members.
