Robert Consiglio
June 2, 1947 – January 7, 2021
Robert Consiglio, 73 of Cary, NC passed away on January 7, 2021 in Chapel Hill, NC.
Robert was born on June 2, 1947 in Bronx, New York to the late Umberto and Maria Lucia Consiglio. Robert was a big baseball fan and a huge history buff, but his true passion was his family. An honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, Robert spent the majority of his career at IBM, focused on helping his colleagues as a Human Resources manager. In retirement, as a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he spent his time visiting with family and friends, attending classes at NC State, and enjoying reading books and watching sports on TV.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Loretta Consiglio; his daughter, Monica (fiancé Todd Helfrich); his daughter, Lisa Brandman (husband Kevin); and his grandchildren Samantha, Justin, Joshua, Christopher, and Brennan. He is also lovingly remembered by his brother & sister in law Larry & Maureen Consiglio, and his brother & sister in law Ray & Lori Consiglio, and their families.

My heart is broken... Uncle Bob was one of the most kindest, generous, and patient men I've ever to have know and to love. He LOVED his sports, loved a good deep conversation, always had the kindest words in the softest voice, made the MOST AMAZING breakfasts (his pancakes were out of this world!), but most of all he LOVED his family. I ache for my Aunt Loretta and my cousins Monica and Lisa as I know how your heart is breaking on such a deeper level. As I send you strength, love and light - know he will be watching over all of you and loved ones always. Look, listen and smell for signs as he will be your forever guardian angel and will let you know when he is watching over you - have faith in his strength and love to reach out. I wish I could be there to hug you all. Love you my dear dear Uncle Bob - this is the last time I saw you and you were SO patient as Aunt Loretta, Monica and I were gabbing away :) at the hotel bar while you were in the hotel lobby watching the boys as the true Pops and patient husband, father and uncle you have always been. My heart is broken...

I first met Bob at IBM, I interviewed with him in Poughkeepsie, NY and began working with him in Raleigh, NC. Bob was the kind of boss that cared about doing the right thing for IBM and for it’s employees. Bob let you be yourself, he had a great sense of humor and truly cared about people! Bob became a friend and will be deeply missed!

Our prayers are with Loretta and family during this difficult time. We are just neighbors of Bob and Loretta but they are part of our neighborhood family and feel the sadness of Bob's passing. I remember many years ago asking Bob for advice and experience he had while I pursued a new job. He was very helpful with providing guidance that helped me decide on a path and get a job that i really enjoyed. Will miss the occasional waves and how are you at the mailbox and trash cans with Bob.

Growing up the way we did was so special, I see this now. I thought everyone had neighbors like ours, but they don't. I will always remember Robert as funny & caring. Way too many memories to list here, but I hope you think of one & smile. Love you guys so much. ❤

Such a loss, and my heart goes out to Loretta and his entire family. I worked with Bob for many years at IBM, and he is, without a doubt, one of the nicest guy's I've ever known. Such a gentleman, who was incredibly knowledgeable and a true professional in every way. My strongest memory of Bob is his laughter. I well remember that if something caught his fancy he did not hold back and would fill the aisle with his laughter. He will be missed by all who knew him.

I met Bob back in 1976 in IBM. Bob was always a class act. He was caring and helpful. I worked with his brother Ray for many years also. I followed Ray and Bob from White Plains to Poughkeepsie and transferred to Raleigh about a year before Bob and we always kept in touch either having lunch together or Christmas dinners or hitting a Durham Bulls game. He will be sorely missed! My condolences to Loretta, Monica, Lisa, Ray, Lori and Larry. We lost a great man! RIP old buddy, we’ll see you soon!

I first met Bob when we were both working for IBM in the 1980s. For many years after that, he remained a good colleague. I admire his commitment and passion for all that was important to him...........family, career, interests. He was a fine gentleman of solid integrity.

I remember how much Bob liked to cook and he was so good at it. It was so wonderful to see how much Bob enjoyed his retirement and how he kept busy. So glad we got to spend time together on our trip to Spain.
