Rose Marie Luckey

Rose Marie Lee Luckey, 89, of Cary, North Carolina, passed away on October 23, 2026. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Rose will be remembered for her kindness, love of family, and adventurous spirit.

Rose was born on September 6, 1937, to Chester and Virginia Lee. She grew up with her three sisters, Barbara Lee Parks, Mary Lou Lee LaMore, and Sandee Lee Twait.

Rose and her husband, Robert Kenneth Luckey, raised two children, Lorrie Lynne Luckey Leonard and Larry Lee Luckey.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorrie Lynne Luckey Leonard, and son-in-law, Daniel Leonard; her son, Larry Lee Luckey, and daughter-in-law, Istini Siddharta; five grandchildren, Blake Leonard, Chris Leonard, Ashley Leonard, Jessica Luckey, and Robert Luckey; and her sisters, Mary Lou Lee LaMore and Sandee Lee Twait.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Kenneth Luckey; her parents, Chester and Virginia Lee; her sister, Barbara Lee Parks; and her grandson, Hunter Leonard.

For many years, Rose worked at the Child Care Center at First United Methodist Church of Cary, where she enjoyed helping young children learn and grow. Her caring nature and patience made her well suited to working with children.

Rose had a lifelong love of dogs, which brought her great companionship and happiness over the years. She also enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and meeting people along the way. Her travels provided her with many wonderful memories and stories to share with family and friends.

A longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Cary, Rose valued her faith and the friendships she developed through her church community.

Above all, Rose cherished her family. She took great pleasure in the lives of her children and grandchildren and treasured the time they spent together, whether at home, traveling, or simply enjoying one another's company.

Rose will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will remember her with love and affection and cherish the many memories she leaves behind.

A funeral service celebrating Rose's life will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church of Cary, North Carolina.

Interment will follow immediately after the service at Wake Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Blake Leonard, Chris Leonard, Robert Luckey, and Larry Luckey. Daniel Leonard will serve as honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist of Cary Children’s Center Scholarship Fund or the SPCA of Wake County.
