Shirley Joann Pendergraft Hearn

Joann was born on February 4, 1935 in Wake County, NC to the late Lonnie Roy Pendergraft and Hallie Mae Sears Pendergraft. She was employed with Belk Department Store in Sanford, retiring after many years of service. Joann was a member of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church in Friendship.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Hearn and son, Jimmy Hearn.

Joann is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Hearn Wood and husband James; sister, Annie Stroup and husband, Billy; brother, Johnny P. Pendergraft and wife, Carolyn; grandchildren, Joanna Hardy and husband Marcus, Joel Wood and wife, Renee and Jennifer Coles and husband, Eric; and seven great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Apex Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at New Elam Christian Church Cemetery in New Hill. The family will receive friends 1pm – 2pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
