Shirley Ann Whitmore

Shirley A. (Gould) Whitmore, 82, of Fuquay-Varina, NC passed away on January 25, 2015 at Transitions Life Care Hospice after a short illness. Born March 11, 1932 in Dover, NJ, Shirley was a long time resident of Lake Shawnee in Jefferson Twp. before retiring to Florida. While living in Jefferson, she was a member of the Jefferson Twp. #2 Rescue Squad and Firemen’s Women’s Auxiliary. Shirley and her husband, George were foster parents to 18 babies before she became a Geriatric LPN. She is predeceased by her parents, Helen (Moore) Richter and father Clifford Gould and stepfather Alexander Richter.

Shirley is survived by husband, George J. Whitmore of Fuquay-Varina, daughters Diana Di Lillo, husband John, of Hackettstown, and Donna Weiss, husband Ken, of Fuquay-Varina. Also survived by three grandchildren Jason (Jessica) and Matthew (Donna) Di Lillo and Kimberly Weiss, five great grandchildren, Anthony, Annabella, Adriana, Olivia and Giuliana Di Lillo, brother Gerald (Jean) Richter of Safety Harbor, FL and sister Dolores Meister of Deltona, FL and many nieces and nephews.

Apex Funeral Home in Apex, NC handled arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
