OBITUARY

Terry L. Bowersox

November 15, 1942September 12, 2020

Terry L. Bowersox, Major, Ret. USAF, 77, of Holly Springs, North Carolina, passed away September 12, 2020 at Duke University Hospital.

Terry was born November 15, 1942 in Allentown, PA to Harold and Joyce Bowersox, who predeceased him. Terry graduated from Allentown High School, then Penn State University in 1964, when he joined the Air Force.

Terry loved his career in the USAF. This career took him and his family to DC, the Philippine Islands, Alabama, and Maryland, where he retired. He enjoyed a second career as an accountant for Jasper’s Restaurants for 20 years. Terry and Jerry moved to Holly Springs, NC in 2007 to be closer to family.

Terry’s hobbies included model railroading, reading, visiting with neighbors, and maintaining the best-kept lawn in the neighborhood. Terry’s greatest joys were supporting his children and grandchildren, in all their various activities.

Terry is survived by his loving wife, Jerry, and two children, David (Brooke) of Cary, NC and Dianna Dell of Holly Springs, NC. In addition, he is survived by grandson Christopher Dell, granddaughters Anna Kathryn and Maggie Bowersox, and grandson Sam Bowersox.

Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Terry’s honor may be made to The American Liver Foundation or The Air Force Aid Society.

A Remembrance of Life Open House will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 pm at the family home.

My sympathies to you and your family. Reliving many good memories of childhood adventures with "cousin" Terry at family get togethers and St. Matthew's Lutheran Church activities. One of life's greatest tragedies is loosing contact with friends as we reach adulthood and move in different directions; and too late wishing we had stayed in touch. I cherish the good memories I have of Terry, and hope your memories will help bring you comfort.

One of the fondest memories of Terry is how frustrated he would become when a $10,000 invoice would be off by a penny, He would return the invoice to me with a two paragraph note! Terry, we will miss you! RIP

So many wonderful memories of visits to Bowie and Holly Springs over the years. While we are reassured knowing (Uncle) Terry is resting in Heaven, we are sad about his passing. God Bless him and the Bowersox family.

With love and condolences,

Gary and family

Terry masterfully introduced order and precision into the financial matters at Cresthill Baptist Church. He performed his job with affection and accuracy there, and (I suspect) at Jasper's, too. He honored Christ in both his life and his work. His passing causes those of us who loved and respected him great pain, but we know that his soul now resides in Heaven and one day we will join him here.
I hope to attend his interment at Arlington.

Please know my thoughts and prayers are with your family. I love how Terry responded to questions concerning the treasurers report during business meetings at church. He was direct and always to the issue. A voice of reason and clarity. I know the hole it leaves in our life and heart to loose our Dad and Husband. God Bless
