Timothy William Smith, 56, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2013, from an apparent heart attack while vacationing at Holden Beach, NC. Tim was born on July 20, 1956 in Norwalk, CT to Douglas and Patricia Smith who survive him. Tim was the loving husband of Judy Smith, and father of Melissa Quirk (Tom) of Holly Springs, Douglas Smith (Julie)of Raleigh, and David Smith of Tampa, FL. He was also the adoring grandfather to Quinn T. Quirk and enjoyed every moment with him. Tim is also survived by his brothers Michael (Dolores) and Tracy (Lynda) also of CT. In addition, he leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins, and neices and nephews. Tim grew up in Wilton, CT, and received his B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Bridgeport. He worked for a variety of companies in CT before moving his family to Cary, NC in 1996. Shortly after, he began work providing financial services to area churches and non-profit organizations. He was currently serving 10 area churches where his attention to details, organization and uncompromising ethics were truly appreciated. His family and many wonderful friends and colleagues will miss him terribly as he was one of the most humble, kindest, down to earth people God ever created. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with family and friends above all else. A memorial service will be held to honor his life on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 11:00 followed by a reception with family and friends at Duke Memorial United Methodist Church, 504 West Chapel Hill St., Durham, NC. Judy, My broken heart started to heal thinking back to all the fun times I spent with Tim at Nannie's house. We spent hours together playing board games and just having fun. Even as kids, I remember he was kind-spirited and a gentle person (and very handsome) His smile lit up a room - He can now join Nannie and Grampy in a game or two while always keeping an eye on you and the whole family. God has another perfect angel !
We are always here....Love, Donna and Tom

There are no right words for us to appropriately describe the great love and pride we hold for our nephew Tim. This coupled with the tremendous sense of loss over his premature passing leaves us virtually speechless.

I am so sorry about Tim. Between Wilton High and my friendship with Nancy, it seems doubly painful. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. May God grant you peace.
