

Vernon Russell Harris was born on September 3, 1954 to the late Willie Lee and Flora Mae Harris. He was the youngest of seven children. Vernon fought a good fight, finished his course and entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 12, 2016.
Vernon attended Apex High School and Wake Technical Community College. He also received numerous certifications related to his career in Roadway Inspection.
Vernon loved people. His outgoing personality, his quick sense of humor, and infectious laughter are the characteristics that made him stand out in a crowd. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Vernon was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved going on hunting and fishing trips with his sons. He was a self-made carpenter. He enjoyed fixing things and took great pride in his projects. He very proudly showed them off whenever he could. He loved sports and served as coach for his sons’ youth baseball and basketball teams.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Leon Harris.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his wife, Belinda Barbarette; three sons, Stefan Harris, Vernon Harris ll (Ryan), Jamie Speed (Kimberly); three grandchildren, Jaylen, Savannah and Isaiah; four sisters Deborah Judd (Bobby), Mary Harbor, Peggy Smith (Robert) Grace Best (Roy); one brother, Larry Harris. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 12 noon, on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Calvary Chapel Cary in Apex. Burial service will follow at Apex Cemetery.
