Rev. William T. Mills

Rev. Mills was born July 11, 1926 in Wake County to the late Rev. G. T. Mills and Electa Farrar Mills. He was a graduate of Green Hope High School, Wake Forest College, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a WWII veteran of the US Navy.

Rev. Mills served as senior pastor for over 55 years for the following churches: Cumberland Union Baptist Church near Fuquay, NC; New Hill Baptist Church in New Hill, NC; Little City Baptist Church in Little City, Oklahoma; Fieldale Baptist Church in Fieldale, Virginia; Temple Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC; Highland Baptist Church in Hickory, NC; and many interim positions for over 18 years after retirement. He also served on the board of trustees at Golden Gate Baptist Theological seminary and Campbell College. In 1995 he served as chaplain for the North Carolina House of Representatives.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Metrie and Leon Mills; and sisters Reba Eatman, Mary Yates, Wilbur Beavers, and Clara Branton.

Rev. Mills is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy M. Mills; daughters Dottie Stam and husband Skip and Sandra Sheldon and husband Mark; sons David Mills and wife Jackie and Rev. Richard Mills and wife, Stephanie, sister Margaret Travis; 6 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Apex Baptist Church, 110 S. Salem Street, Apex, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
