Born June 21, 1923 in Richton, Illinois she was preceeded in death by her parents William F. and Elizabeth E. Jahns, as well as her siblings Pearl Allen, William Jahns and Helen Bross. She is survived by her sons William N. Johnson and David B. Johnson, her grandchildren, Shannon Williams (Shane), Brent Johnson, Jennifer Newsome (Ken), Kelly Johnson and Kimberly Martindale (Chad) as well as sisters Elaine Muzzo, and Lucille Phipps, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
After graduating from high school, Adeline enlisted in the United States Navy WAVES, where she served as an aviation machinist’s mate during World War II. She was stationed at Terminal Island Naval Station in Long Beach where she met her husband Norman, also a Navy Warrant Officer. Upon discharge from the Navy, Adeline settled down in So. California where she worked for the Arcadia Unified School district for over 20 years, while she supported her husband through a Bachelor and Doctorate program at USC. She devoted her life to her husband, sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous beloved pets. She was an incredible entertainer and chef, was always last to sit at the table, and even well into her 90”s, took care of everyone around her. She will forever be in our hearts.
In a tribute to her military service she will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made at woundedwarriorproject.org in memory of Adeline.
