Carl Merrifield

Carl is survived by his three children: Julia Zabel (Merrifield), David Merrifield, and Jennifer Merrifield Dominguez. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Amanda Zabel, Jacob Zabel, and Samuel Dominguez.

Carl was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and trained servicemen in artillery. From Champaign, Illinois, Carl was the eldest child of 5 to Alma and Francis Eugene Merrifield. He received his Bachelor's degree from University of Illinois, before going on to earn a Masters. Carl worked in tech throughout his career, programing solutions for companies transitioning away from proprietary software. Later in life he became a contractor, working for Charles-Schwab for months at a time before vacationing with family and friends. Carl was a computer gaming and tech enthusiast, avid league bowler for years in both California and Nevada, as well as an amateur musician, enjoyed fishing, and painting. Carl believed that life should be lived, and was open to adventures big and small.

Memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association. We will have an online memorial service to celebrate Carl's life at a later date.
