It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, David Oquita Jimenez, who entered into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 30, 2026, in Los Angeles, California at the age of 98.
Born in Pirtleville, Arizona, to Valente Jimenez Garza and Librada Oquita Perez, David was the youngest of his siblings and the last living member of his birth family. He had two brothers, Benjamin and Samuel, and a sister, Ruth. He was the devoted husband of Petra Garcia Jimenez, to whom he was married for 65 years prior to her passing in 2018. After giving his life to the Lord he found great strength in his faith and in reading his Bible, having memorized many of its chapters. David was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, friend and a spiritual mentor to many.
David and his wife, Petrita, dedicated their lives to ministry. He was known for his commitment to preaching the Word of God across the United States, Mexico, and Central America. During his years of service, he was an elder, teacher, evangelist, and pastor. His legacy includes the construction of two churches in Sonora, Mexico, and his outreach efforts through radio ministry and prison chaplaincy. He loved his beloved Arivechi, Sonora, Mexico where he dedicated several years of his life sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ all along the towns of the municipality of Sahuaripa.
David is survived by his five children: Ruben, Elizabeth (Lisa), David Jr., Daniel (Danny), and Valente (Tito); fifteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who were always in his prayers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Sunset Hills Mortuary and Memorial Park in Apple Valley, California:
- Viewing: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

He will be remembered for his joyful heart and his complete dedication to his calling and his family. While he will be greatly missed, we find peace knowing he is enjoying eternal rest in glory.
