Dock Woods Jr. was born on November 9, 1939, in Wilmot, Arkansas, to father Docton (Dock) Woods Sr. & Gertrude Woods.
He grew up in Pasadena, Ca. and attended John Muir High School.
He worked as a Journeyman meat cutter but was also a serial entrepreneur, owning his own record shop and a hamburger stand, creating his own chicken sausage that was nationally wholesaled, and starting the first and only Black-owned sand & gravel plant in Southern California. Jazz music was his passion, and he expressed that love through playing the drums, piano, and saxophone. He was also known for generously donating food and his time to local nonprofits.
Dock was known for his strength and kindness; everybody who knew him loved him. Dock enjoyed music, concerts in the park, sports, landscaping, and especially loved his family.
He is survived by His wife, Shirley Woods, daughters Donna Guillory and Denette Braud, Son-in-laws Elbert Braud Sr. and David Guillory, grandkids Elbert Braud Jr., Charmaine Lawson, Sean Brown, Danielle Guillory, Michael Glover, great-grandkids Jordan Braud, Jace Braud, Nicolas Braud, Ty Lawson, Jayden Brown, Anthony Gonzalez, and Jasiah Brown.
