Duke, my Dad, loved to play golf and I have many fond memories of us and countless others in our groups, golfing. Too many to post actually. Dad inspired me to play golf and I found that same affinity for golf through him. It's tough to mourn his passing and yet celebrate his life today.

Hi my name is Darla and I was one of Duke's caregivers. Duke has taught me a lot , the day he came home from the hospital I was there doing an interview with Jackie for a friend of mine who was out of town. Well when he arrived home  we had to transfer him from the chair to the bed using the hoist I never used one before I was scared to death. Duke told me to take a deep breath, and  don't worry I'll walk you through it, and he did. Duke and I got along very well we shared a lot of laughs along with Diane his wife he was a one of a kind man. He had more patience than anybody I have ever met, he never once complained about anything raised his voice, (and trust me he could have) :blush: I remember veterans day I called everywhere trying to get him that free veterans meal I was determined to and I found out Texas Roadhouse would give him it, so I dressed Duke in his red white and blue shirt and I told him I'd be back and I went and picked him up a steak dinner and Diana dinner and I got him in his chair and set up a small  table in the living room and he and Diane had a really nice dinner and he was so excited because he couldn't believe that he got this meal for free for being a veterans . Duke was proud of the time he spent in the air Force. When I worked with Duke I loved going to work he would just bring joy to my life, to see someone with that much determination as he had was amazing to me and he never once said why me, never. I will never forget my patient Duke Sanders he will live forever in my heart. Rest in peace Duke I know by now you're walking on that golf course in heaven doing  what you enjoyed doing the most .
