Eva Lorraine Duran

She was born in Rawlins, Wyoming, on April 25th 1946 to her parents, Paul and Angelina Garcia. She graduated from Rawlins High School in 1964 and soon after married her high school sweetheart, Rudy Duran. Together, they raised 2 children Randy and Leslie and established their family in Barstow. She had a passion for working with children dedicating 30 years of service to the Barstow Unified School District as an Instructional Aide and Para Educator. She also taught religious education at Saint Joseph's and volunteered with the youth group. After retiring she continued to devote her time to her community volunteering at Saint Joseph's church office and with Martha's Meals. Known for her generosity and compassion, she was always ready to help family and friends in times of need. She cherished family gatherings, often delighting everyone with her famous pumpkin cake, homemade tortillas, ribs and baked beans for she was an excellent cook. She loved traveling, visiting numerous states across the country including New York, Washington, DC. Hawaii, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Texas and Montana. She also visited numerous historic landmarks such as Mount Rushmore, The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park and Sedona. She also explored Canada and parts of Europe to include Germany, Paris, London and Brussels. She loved listening to her favorite New Mexico style music. She had a favorite pastime of dancing to country and Spanish music. She loved and cherished her pets and adored the visiting hummingbirds that would frequent her feeders. She loved camping at her favorite place, Mammoth Lakes. She especially enjoyed spending time in Arizona with her Daughter, son-in-law, grandsons and great-granddaughter. Luncheons and birthday celebrations with her close friends were among her favorite pastimes, a tradition they upheld for many years. Above all she deeply loved her family and was immensely proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was cherished by her family and friends and will be fondly remembered as a soft-spoken classy kind lady. She was a stylish woman who loved shopping and always looked beautiful. She was a devoted Los Angeles Dodgers and Kansas City Chiefs fan. Eva Lorraine was survived by her beloved husband Rudy. Her son, Randy and his wife Dolores, her daughter Leslie and her husband Jonathan Woody, her grandsons, Kristopher and wife Sandy, Gabriel and wife AJ, Joshua and partner Joezette Martinez. Elijah, Cody and wife, Gabriela and Spencer Woody. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren. Janessa, Angelyna, Jesse, Dominick, Brooklyn, Brea, Jessalei, Juliette, and Elliott. Eva Lorraine is also survived by three brothers and six sisters and many extended relatives. A devoted member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, her faith was central to her life. Services will be held Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Barstow. The Rosary will begin promptly at 9 AM followed by Mass from 10 AM to 11 AM. Graveside services will be held at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, located at 24000 Waalew Road Apple Valley, California, from 1 PM to 1:30 PM. A reception will follow at the same location from 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM. Her legacy of kindness, devotion and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.A Prayer Service will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church, 505 E Mountain View St, Barstow, CA 92311, US, on September 23, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Religious Ceremony at the same location on September 23, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. A Committal Service will take place at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 24000 Waalew Road, Apple Valley, CA 92307, US, on September 23, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, and a Reception will follow at Sunset Hills Mortuary, 24000 Waalew Road, Apple Valley, CA 92307, US, on September 23, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
