

George Sebastian Echols, 60, passed away peacefully June 19, 2026 in Barstow, California. He was born February 7, 1966, in Los Angeles, California and was welcomed into the hearts of Benjamin and Isabel De la Cruz Echols.
In 1988, George married his high school sweetheart, Cheri L. Conder of Barstow in the St. George Utah LDS temple.
George graduated from Western State University, School of Law with a juris doctorate. In 2005, he retired from the County of San Bernardino after working in various departments.
George was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he loved to serve others. He served an LDS mission in Honduras Tegucigalpa. He then served in many capacities within his local congregation, including bishop of the Barstow Ward.
George had a love for firearms and teaching his children firearm safety. He enjoyed reading military thriller books, listening to great music, and spending time with his family.
George is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Cheri; his children, Benjamin Echols and Cassidy (Wesley) Brady. His pride and joy were his grandchildren; Dawson Brady and Lily-Kate Brady. He is also survived by his siblings, Laura (Steve) Mapes, Julie (Lance) Thompson, Tracy (Chris) Obering, Susana (Jason) Abbott, and Ben (Sarah) Echols; along with many beloved extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with a viewing at 9 a.m., at Barstow LDS Ward Chapel, 2571 Barstow Road, Barstow, CA 92311. Graveside services will then be held at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Hills Memorial Park.
George will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
