

Gerald Kenneth Kant was born April 30, 1928 in Bryant, SD to George and Hilda Kant.
On May 2, 1950 he married Ardis Haugen from Huron, SD. Jerry and Ardis lived in Watertown, SD until November, 1852, moving to San Diego, CA, working construction on new homes, from there to Camp Pendleton, CA, then to Orange County, CA., construction on many of the new homes being built in the 50’s. Residing in Orange, CA. he worked for the Orange Unified School District, working weekends at Disneyland, operating rides there. After retiring from there, he began maintenance works for the County of Orange, he was a Planner/Estimator until he retired in 1985. Jerry built several new homes, and remodeled many in Orange, CA. building his home there in 1971. He moved to Hesperia, CA. where he built their family home in 1991-92. Jerry and Ardis traveled a lot in a RV, went on cruises, taking in many polka festivals along the way, meeting many friends. Jerry enjoyed his sports, mostly baseball and basketball, Dodgers and Lakers were his favorite. He built a barn and had many dances in his home there until his death August 13, 2019.
He is survived by his wife Ardis of Hesperia, 3 sisters, Evelyn Wolkow, Beverly Mulder, and JoAnn Miller, his sons Steve Kant and Rick Kant and daughter Jolene Dallyn, 5 grand children, Erin (Kant) Bernard, Jessica (Kant) Harmer, Julia DeVito, Evan Kant and Jeffrey Kant, great grand children, Devin Kant, Bella Kant, Becca Kant, Max Kant, Addie Kant and Samuel Register.
He is preceded in death by his parents, an older sister Audrey Skinner, and his younger twin brothers, Jack and Gene Kant.
Visitation will be held Monday August 19 from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Sunset Hills Chapel in Apple Valley. Celebration of his life will begin at noon.
He will be laid to rest at Sunset Hills Memorial Park.
