

Ivan "Glen" Speer passed away at his home in Victorville, Ca. on Sunday Sept 6, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born June 9, 1924 in Wayne County, Iowa to Dewey and Elsie Speer. Married to Betty, the love of his life for 47 years before her passing in 2001, Glen and Betty raised 5 children, Merle, Patricia, Edward, Ivan Jr. and Tye. He is survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
After growing up in Iowa, Glen spent his 18th birthday after landing on the shores of Normandy, where he bravely defended our country in World War ll.
When returning home from the war, Glen made his home in California where he began work as a Lincoln Mercury mechanic until 1980. At that time, he and Betty moved up to the
High Desert where they owned an auto parts store for several years and then retired.
Glen filled his life enjoying car clubs, jeep clubs, nascar, country music festivals and traveling every state. He actively attended and supported the local christian high schools sporting events. Up until his passing, Glen was very active at Temple Baptist Church and a large supporter of the Awana's club.
Glen was well known in his community for visiting the local schools and sharing his war experiences while dressed in his original WWll uniform. His volunteer work also included working for several years at the Hesperia Museum.
Glen was a real people person who always had a smile on his face. His positive attitude and pure love of life touched and affected all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.
