Jose Hernan Nunez

August 2, 1960 – September 10, 2026

Jose Hernan Nunez passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on August 2, 1960, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Jose began a journey at just 19 years old that would shape the rest of his life. He left Honduras and moved to Los Angeles, California, with the hope of building a better life and creating opportunities for himself and the family he would one day have.

Along that journey, Jose met Margaret Nunez, and together they built a life and a family. He became a devoted father to Victoria, Christopher, and Nicole Nunez, and later a proud father-in-law to Nicole and Kelsey Nunez. He was also a grandfather to Chase Nunez, Cruz Nunez, Ryot Olsen, and Zayne Olsen.

Jose was a hardworking man who believed in providing for his family and giving his children opportunities to build better lives. He spent much of his career working with his hands and doing what he knew best. A talented automotive mechanic, he eventually became a Service Manager for a dealership. Whether he was repairing a vehicle, solving a problem, or finding a way to make something work, Jose had a natural ability to understand how things worked and fix what needed fixing.

Family was at the heart of Jose's life. He never forgot where he came from or the people he loved. He remained devoted to his mother, Juana Hernandez Pineda, and spent years helping her from afar. Even while living miles away, he found ways to improve her home in Honduras, repair what needed fixing, and make her life a little easier. For Jose, love was often expressed through action—through working, helping, fixing, providing, and simply being there.

Jose was also athletic throughout his life, with soccer holding a special place in his heart. He played soccer semi-professionally in Honduras and continued playing after moving to the United States, remaining active in the sport until just a few years ago. His love of the game extended beyond playing. For many years, he coached his son Christopher and his friends, sharing his knowledge, competitiveness, and passion for soccer with them. He treated those young men as his own kids, leaving an impression on them that extended far beyond the soccer field.

Jose will be remembered for his strength, determination, athleticism, mechanical ability, and dedication to the people he loved. He came to this country with very little and spent his life working to build something better. His journey was one of sacrifice, hard work, family, and perseverance.

He leaves behind a family who will carry his memory forward: his wife, Margaret; his children, Victoria, Christopher, and Nicole; his daughters-in-law, Nicole and Kelsey; and his grandchildren, Chase, Ryot, and Zayne.

Jose's life was not defined by perfection, but by the life he built, the people he loved, and the sacrifices he made along the way. His story began in Tegucigalpa, took him across borders and into a new country, and ultimately led him to a family and a life he worked tirelessly to provide for.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
