Justino “Chino” Gutierrez Jr. was born on March 19,1975 to Justino Sr. and Yvonne Gutierrez. Chino was raised in Los Angeles, California along with his younger siblings Angel and Moses Gutierrez. As a young boy Chino enjoyed coloring, working on puzzles and watching his favorite movies like “Back to the Future”, “Ninja Turtles”, “Ghostbusters” and of course “Top Gun”. Every Sunday Chino and his parents enjoyed family trips to the movies and dinners at Tommy’s Original on Rampart Blvd. As a child Chino was cheerful and smiley with a great memory and remembered every promise to go for burgers.
As a big brother, Chino spent many fun times with his siblings, going to the lake, attending church and celebrating birthdays and accomplishments. His mom frequently praised him for being organized, keeping his room clean and always picking up after himself.
In his 20’s Chino took on one of his most important roles yet. He became an Uncle to Nicole, Abraham, Shadraq and Justin. The five of them grew up together and enjoyed summers in the pool, beach days, roller coasters, and hamburgers with a Coca Cola on the side. Later in life Chino would also gain another niece and nephew, Emma Rose and Joshua LLoyd Gutierrez and a great niece, Penelope Blue Flores.
Throughout his life Chino had a love for music of all kinds and enjoyed singing and dancing to Michael Jackson, The Temptations or anything on K-Earth 101. His love for music extended into the church where he frequently joined the worship team as their conga player.
Chino’s life was filled with love and happiness. He was diligently cared for and adored by his mother and father whose lives he filled with joy and an unconditional love. He was a light to his family and impacted so many around him including his school friends, neighbors, and his church community.
The light and joy that Chino brought to all will continue to warm our hearts and lives. We mourn his departure but we rejoice in the beautiful life that God bestowed upon him and give thanks for the blessing of being his family.
He now joins his Grandmother, our beloved Emma Alari in God’s presence.
