

Lourdes A. Nepomuceno died peacefully at her home on August 15, 2017. She was born on April 8, 1925 in the Philippines to Primitiva and Eusebio Abarcar.
She received her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in nursing from the University of the Philippines.
In 1962, Mrs. Nepomuceno moved to the High Desert with her husband, Dr. Benjamin Nepomuceno. She managed her husband’s medical practice for over 30 years, as well as managing the Mojave Medical Group, Victor Valley Medical Group, and the Moro Medical Group. She served as a corporate board member of the Victor Valley Hospital and was instrumental in its conversion to the non-profit Victor Valley Community Hospital in the 1980s. She served on this board for twenty-seven years.
She was active in the local Filipino community. In the 1980s, she was elected as the president of the Philippine American Association of the High Desert, and headed many of their social as well as community service activities. Her altruism and servant leadership was known by all those who interacted with her.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband of fifty years. She is survived by her sisters: Dr. Esther A. Fermin, Dr. Lydia A. Cruz, both of Apple Valley, and Beatrice Cabrera in the Philippines; many nieces and nephews as well as many relatives and friends. Viewing will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary on August 24 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the funeral mass will on Friday, August 25 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Desert Church, in Apple Valley.
