Aileen A. Brown of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away quietly and comfortably holding her loving daughter’s hand Saturday morning February 3rd of 2018. She fell just short of her goal to “make it to a 100” as she was to be 99 years old this coming June.
Her long life began in Aubrey, Texas in 1919, before the great depression which she recalled with something less than fondness. Rural Texas in the 1930’s was not necessary the best place to be in her youth and she knew hunger. It gave her much appreciation for her life thereafter with her husband Walter who predeceased her in 2006. It gave her strength aa a young bride at home while her husband was abroad in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. And in 1954 Walter and Aileen adopted their daughter Debra. It was a win win for all. Aileen was homemaker most of the time with some forays into the business world in the credit department at Sanger Harris and as independent beautician with her own shop in Dallas.
She is the daughter of Sam and Charlotte Pennington who have been gone for some time as have most of her friends. She made many of her friends through the First Christian Church of Grand Prairie where she and Walter were members for decades. Were her friends alive they would remember her as a bundle of energy who worked hard to make a family for her husband and daughter and to make certain that her circle of friends and acquaintances from the fire station down the street to the tellers at her bank to her beauty salon were stocked with her fresh baked sugar cookies.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012.
We want to thank Parson House and her care givers Linda and Brenda for helping her dance, sing, win at Bingo and filling her days with love and kisses.
The family request in lieu of flowers please make donations to Elephant Havens Wildlife Foundation, 4104 Calculus Dr. Dallas, Texas 75244
