Alfred L. Coggin
January 11, 1924 – November 6, 2019
Alfred (Al) Lee Coggin was born January 11, 1924 in Sanger, TX and passed away November 6, 2019 in Arlington, Texas at the age of 95.
After graduating high school in 1943, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He served as a tail gunner on a B24 in the South Pacific where he completed 40 missions. After leaving the Army, Al and Ann were married in 1945 in Bolivar, TX before they eventually settled in Fort Worth.
His working career began with a number of positions, including owning and operating two service stations. He ultimately went on to work at GM Assembly Plant in Arlington, TX, as a proud member of UAW Local 276, for over 27 years and he retired there in 1991.
Al was known as a man of many talents and strong work ethic. He was always willing to help or share with others. His humor and warmth would light up any room and he was unendingly kind.
Al is survived by his two children: Donald Coggin of Arlington, TX and Diane Leseman and husband, John, of Fort Worth, TX; and granddaughter, Leslie Hill and partner, Matthew Pierce of Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Ann Coggin.
Visitation is Friday, November 8th, from 6 to 8pm. Graveside service is Saturday, November 9th, at 3pm. All services will be held at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Dr., Arlington, TX, 76012.
