Amy and Gilbert settled in Grand Prairie to raise their family after Gilbert returned from the war. For many years, Amy was active in the Woman’s club of Grand Prairie and other civic/social activities and at the First Christian and First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie. Amy stayed at home and raised the family while helping run the family business. Her home became a gathering place for family, the children’s friends and neighbors. She was very meticulous with personal and business records. Amy was known for her wardrobe and was always complemented on her dress. She kept her mind sharp with favorite activities, which she pursued until a few weeks before her death, by playing bridge and other activities with her friends at Mac Arthur Hills retirement center in Irving, watching Wheel of Fortune faithfully, reading until her eyesight diminished and limited her ability to read, listening to/watching Gospel music programs and church services. After meeting/knowing Amy, the most common comment was “such a sweet person”. The family thanks the staff and caretakers at Mac Arthur Hills and Faith Presbyterian Hospice for the sincere loving care and concern given to Amy.
A visitation for Amy will be held Friday, September 8, 2017 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas, 76012. A memorial service will occur Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie, 950 Mayfield Rd, Grand Prairie, Texas, 75052.
