He was born in Evansville, IN on Aug 31, 1956. Tony graduated from North High School in Jun 1974 and entered the United States Air Force that same month. While serving he received a CCAF degree in Instructional Systems Technology and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist University. He retired in 2001 after 27 years of service where he held the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.
Tony began his next career of 19 years at HOLT CAT where he held the position of Director of Intern and Apprenticeship Programs – Military and Veteran Outreach. He was a member of the American Legion Post 379 in Bedford, TX and served as Finance Officer of the Riders group. Tony had a passion for barbeques, beer, and most of all, family.
Tony was survived by his wife of 17 years, Wendy Jo Spalding - the love of his life and best friend, his children Frances Celis (Carlos), Kathy Lee Coffey, Lori Brownmiller (Scott), Dana Spalding, Brandon Alvey (Wendy), Jonathan Alvey, and Sarah Alvey (Alex Hughes), his 6 grandchildren Brayden, Luca, Anabel, Aiden, Lindy and Silas, and his siblings Ed Spalding (Sharon), Harry Spalding (Lana), Ron Spalding (Robin), Chris Spalding (Kathy), Rita Hubbard, Jo Ann Spalding (Diane Burkhart) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Edmund and Frances Spalding and a sister Loretta Spalding-Duvall.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 11am, Dec 16, 2021 at Shepherd of Life Lutheran Church in Arlington, TX and a gathering for the Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the American Legion Post 379 in Bedford, TX. A Military Honors and Interment ceremony at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, TX is scheduled on Dec 17, 2021 at 11:15am.
