Our wonderful and loving father, husband, grandfather, brother, and friend, Avtar Krishan Shori, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020 in Arlington, Texas, at the age of 78. He was the cherished patriarch of our family, guiding us, protecting us, teaching us, loving us and supporting us. He was always there for all of us. He was our role model, our hero. The pride and love he had for his family was immeasurable. He was a man of his word, and was exceedingly responsible, honest, and reliable. He was a devoted friend to many. He will be sorely missed and remembered forever.
Avtar was born in Shankar, Punjab, India on January 22, 1942. He migrated to America in 1976 to build a better life for his family. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2013 after 27 years. Throughout his life he worked tirelessly to support his family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Subhash Shori; brothers Raj K Shori and wife Kalash Shori, Ashok K Shori and wife Manju Shori; sisters: Nirmala Sharma (wife of late Tarloki Nath Sharma), Santosh Sharma and husband Kalash Sharma; daughters, Sushma Walker and husband Eric, Savita Guerrant and husband Luke, Surinder Shori and Anju Shori; grandchildren, Emily Walker, Erica Walker, Maya Crim, Adam Crim and Gyan Guerrant, many nieces and nephews and countless friends. He was preceded by his parents Dewan Shori and Tara Shori, his elder brother Kewal Shori (survived by Leela Shori) and his sister Usha Birla (survived by Sital Birla).
Due to the unique times in which we live, the service and celebration of Avtar’s life, for reasons of safety for others, will be held at a later date. Avtar’s primary focus was showering his friends and family with love and compassion, if you would like to honor Avtar’s memory please find an opportunity to carry out an act of kindness during these difficult times.
