Barbara Jean Loftin

Barbara Jean Loftin, 77, of Arlington, Texas, left us peacefully on December 24, 2024. A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Barbara will be remembered for her kindness and ability to see the good in others.

Born on December 26, 1946, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Barbara was the second child of five to Lawrence and Mildred Davis. On September 5, 1970, Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Loftin, Jr. They shared a successful marriage that lasted over 54 years, welcoming sons Joseph III and Jeffrey, and granddaughter, Lauren.

After marrying Joseph, Barbara lived in Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois before settling in Texas through a promotion by her employer, Occidental Chemical Corporation. Her hardworking nature and keen sense of responsibility helped her rise through the ranks until she became customer service manager, a position she held until retiring after more than thirty years of service. Shortly after arriving in Arlington, Texas, she started attending Mount Olive Baptist Church where she was an active member.

Barbara had many interests but was very passionate about travel. From her many trips to Hawaii, a yearly family vacation in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and trips to Europe, she globe-trotted across the country and around the world. When not traveling, she was also an excellent cook whose mac and cheese and peach cobbler were holiday staples loved by everyone.

Barbara is survived by mother, Mildred Davis; husband, Joseph Loftin, Jr.; sons, Joseph Loftin, III, and Jeffrey Loftin; daughter-in-law, Tiffany Loftin; granddaughter, Lauren Loftin; siblings, Carolyn Jones, Lawrence Davis, Jr., Darlene (Sonny) Porch, and Raymond (Margaret) Davis; sisters-in-law, Judith (Ronald) Davenport and Jo-Anne Bates; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by father, Lawrence Davis, Sr.

A visitation for Barbara Jean Loftin will be held on Thursday January 2, 2025, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012. Funeral Services will be on Friday January 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Mount Olive Baptist Church on 301 West Sanford Street, Arlington, Texas 76011. Burial to follow at 1:00 PM at Moore Memorial Gardens 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012.
