Betty was born on Wednesday, June 20, 1934 to Cornelius Edward Womble and Ruby Wolfe. She was raised in Webb, Texas, and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1951. Throughout her life, Betty was known for her strong work ethic, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
In 1981, Betty married James (Jim) C. Mitchell, with whom she shared many treasured memories. She was the proud mother of three children from a previous marriage. Betty dedicated more than 20 years of service to Texas Commerce Bank, where she worked as a New Account Representative.
Outside of work, Betty found great joy in entertaining family and friends, preparing meals for holiday gatherings, serving her church, and traveling with Jim. She also enjoyed square dancing, shopping, visiting Canton, and lovingly taking care of Pearl. Whether gathering loved ones around the table, lending a helping hand at church, or enjoying life's simple pleasures, Betty made the most of the time she shared with those she loved.
To her family and friends, Betty was affectionately known as Mama, Granny, and Aunt Betty. She will be remembered for her giving spirit, loving heart, strong work ethic, and the special combination of toughness and sweetness that made her who she was. Her love, strength, and presence touched the lives of many, and the memories she created will be treasured for generations to come.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James (Jim) C. Mitchell; her daughter, Kimberly (Kim) J. Hays; her daughter-in-law, Diane Y. Robinson; her parents; and all of her siblings.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Donald M. Robinson of Arlington, Texas, and Jeffery (Jeff) P. Robinson and his wife, Karen, of Bryan, Texas; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
Betty was a current member of Crestview Baptist Church and a former member of Webb Baptist Church. Her faith and church involvement were meaningful parts of her life.
Though Betty will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, generosity, hard work, and devotion to family will live on in all who knew her. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a lasting reminder of the love and strength that helped shape her family.
She will always be remembered, forever loved, and deeply missed.
