Betty Kile Pollock, age 93, of Plano, Texas, passed away September 12, 2022. Born in Fort Worth, Texas on March 29, 1929, Betty was a lifelong resident of East Fort Worth until she moved closer to her daughters in 2016. Betty was in the initial 2nd grade class at the new Meadowbrook Elementary school in 1936. After graduating from Polytechnic High School in 1946, she studied childhood education at NTAC (now UTA) where she was crowned a college princess. She married Bill L. Pollock on Sept. 3, 1948, then joined him at Texas Tech University to continue her studies in childhood education.
Betty and Bill returned to Fort Worth after college where she worked at General Dynamics as a keypunch operator until 1957. She then enjoyed her life as a full time homemaker, volunteer, and mother to their two daughters.
Betty grew up Baptist and converted to Methodist when she married Bill. She was a member of Meadowbrook Methodist Church in Fort Worth for 65 years. At the church, she was in the Wesleyan Sunday school class, taught children’s Sunday school for 3+ decades, served on the Meals on Wheels team, and worked at the church school once her children went to college. Betty also volunteered with her husband Bill at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth.
Betty was a member of the Rejebian Book Club, White Lake Hills Women’s Club, and the Sarah Kincaid Cook chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Betty loved music, family, nature, people, travel, books and cooking. She also loved watching sports — baseball, soccer, golf, football, ice skating, and the Olympics. She was loving, smart, kind, funny, sweet and a strong woman. She was known for her stylish dress and, in later years, her crazy socks.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Bill L. Pollock; mother, Ida Lee Henderson; and father, Oma Kemper Kile. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Jeff McDuff; daughter, Paula Matzen; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Ryan and Madison McDuff; grandson, Reid McDuff; granddaughter, Sally Matzen; and great-granddaughter, Rory McDuff.
The celebration of life will be held at 2 pm, Friday, September 23, 2022, at Meadowbrook-Poly United Methodist Church located at 3900 Meadowbrook Dr. Fort Worth, TX 76103. Honorary Pallbearers: Sally Matzen, Ryan, Reid, Madison and Jeff McDuff.
