

Bettye was born in Snyder, Scurry County, Texas on October 31, 1927. Her parents were Opal and P. D. Lambeth of Stamford, Texas.
Bettye graduated from Stamford High School and begin training to be a nurse. Her nursing career was postponed when she met a young man who had just returned from W.W.II. His name was Darrel Ray O'Dell, and he came home with two Purple Hearts, and a Bronze Star with 2-Oak Leaf Clusters. He served as a Paratrooper in the Rome Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe Campaigns. He was award the Purple Hearts for wounds received in the Battle of The Bulge. He employed with Bell Helicopter for 37 years. He passed away on September 24, 1986. They were married on May 25, 1946.
Bettye was a member of First Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas for over 60 years. She always said she was a “Methodist by Birth, and a Baptist by marriage.” She loved working in the yard tending to her roses, working puzzles, and baking cookies for friends. She later went back to school working on her nursing degree.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother.
She is survived by her daughters Patricia Adams and Donna Wise, her nephew Rick Lambeth and niece Tonya Dawson. She was blessed to have four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
A visitation for Bettye will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012.
