Carl Ray White, 87, passed away on December 21, 2025, in Arlington, Texas. He was born on October 22, 1938, in Johnston County, Oklahoma, to James Hilbert “Buck” and Velma White. Carl was the second of eight children, growing up in the area near Caddo Oklahoma, before moving to West Texas, where he would graduate from High School. At age 18, Carl would begin working in the Automotive Parts Industry, where he would remain until his retirement at the age of 80. Carl married the love of his life, Linda Dianne Hass on June 17, 1960, in Lubbock, Texas. After moving to nearby Plainview, Carl and Dianne would raise four children: Carla Jo (1961), Gary Lee (1963), James Gregory (1965), and Glen Alan (1967). The family would move to Arlington Texas in 1971.
Carl was an avid golfer and an accomplished bowler, enjoying both sports until his health intervened. The entire White family were heavily involved in the bowling community, where many friends became extended family. Carl was an enthusiastic card and domino player. All White family gatherings included many lively games of ‘42’ and his children never, ever beat him at Gin Rummy. In his later years, Carl became a dedicated fan of NCAA sports, especially women’s basketball. He was a longtime Texas Rangers fan, who. Thankfully, he saw them win a World Series Championship.
Carl’s family and friends will remember his sense of humor, and his extraordinary love for his family. The delight of his life were his nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He bragged to anyone who listened about their accomplishments. Carl’s happiest times were those surrounded by his boisterous, loud family, even though he was often shaking his head at them!
Carl was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Linda Dianne Hass White; his parents James Hilbert “Buck” and Velma (White) White; his brothers Delbert White, Henry White, Harvey White and James White; his sisters Joyce White Strickland, Lily White Dove, and Gail White Shaw; Brothers-in-Law Ed Strickland, Bill Dove, Charles Hass, Randy Hass, Doug Kirk, and Melvin Jackson; Sisters-in-Law Norma Jackson and Lea Etta Hass and grandson William Allan Snider.
