Carol Dean Holbrook Moody

Carol Dean Holbrook Moody, age 83, of Arlington, Texas, passed peacefully from this life on July 26, 2026. A devoted wife, loving mother, treasured grandmother and great-grandmother, faithful servant of the Lord, and friend to everyone she met, Carol leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, generosity, faith, and kindness.

Carol was born on September 8, 1942, in Anniston, Alabama, to Lloyd George Holbrook and Dorothy Juanita Cofield Holbrook. She was raised in Anniston and graduated from Bass High School in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1960. She remained deeply connected to her classmates throughout her life and proudly organized her high school’s 50th reunion—an undertaking that reflected her gift for bringing people together.

In 1962, Carol married the love of her life, James Donald “Don” Moody. Together, they built a beautiful life, raised two daughters, Donna and Peyton, and created a family that meant everything to her.

Carol and Don were co-owners of Blue Haven Pools in Arlington for ten years. Carol also enjoyed a successful career as a real estate agent with Century 21, where her warmth, intelligence, friendliness, and natural ability to connect with others served her well.

Never one to believe it was too late to pursue a dream, Carol later became a flight attendant for American Airlines. She proudly earned her wings and flew several flights before damage to her ears made it impossible for her to continue. Without hesitation, she traded in her wings for diapers and devoted herself to caring for her grandchildren so they would not have to attend daycare. To Carol, there was no greater calling and no greater joy than caring for her family.

Carol had a true servant’s heart and was always looking for ways to help others. She volunteered with the police department, spent countless hours on the campaign trail supporting Bill Waybourn during his campaign for sheriff, and willingly gave her time and talents wherever they were needed in her community. She never seemed to know how to say no when someone needed help.

Her Christian faith was at the very center of her life. Carol loved the Lord deeply and traveled to Jerusalem several times. One of the most meaningful moments of her life was being baptized in the Jordan River. Her faith carried her throughout her life and gives her family comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of her Savior.

Carol found great happiness in tending to her plants and flowers, working in her garden, and watching the birds and hummingbirds that visited her yard. She had a creative spirit and was exceptionally talented and crafty. She took great pride in herself and always presented herself beautifully.

More than anything in this world, Carol loved her family. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life. Christmas was her favorite time of year—not because of the decorations or gifts, but because it brought her family together. Having everyone gathered around her was all she ever truly wanted.

Carol was generous, loving, caring, sweet, kind, cheerful, intelligent, witty, optimistic, patient, and remarkably forgiving. She never met a stranger and could make anyone feel welcome. She never held a grudge, rarely complained, always put the needs of others before her own, and gave freely of herself. Even as she slept, she often wore a gentle smile upon her face—a reflection of the beautiful spirit she carried within her.

She was an extraordinary woman, an amazing wife and mother, and the very best friend her daughters could ever have asked for. She was their rock, their safe place, and the heart of their family. Her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but the love she gave so freely will continue to live through every life she touched.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd George Holbrook, Dorothy Juanita Cofield Holbrook her grandmother Iva Cofield .

She is survived by her beloved husband, James Donald “Don” Moody; her devoted daughters, Donna and Peyton; her son-in-law, Brent Jones; her grandchildren, Garrett Lineberger, Ashley Lineberger, Ashton Hill, and Brittney Hill; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Hunter Franks, Emma Lineberger and her siblings Daniel, David & Peggy and their spouses JoAnn, Diane, Ferris. She also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, classmates, and community members whose lives were made better simply by knowing her.

Carol will be missed more deeply than words could ever express. Although her family’s hearts are broken, they find peace in knowing that this is not goodbye. Her love will remain with them forever, and through their faith in Christ, they know they will see her again. Carol was deeply loved, and she loved deeply in return. Her beautiful smile, generous heart, unwavering faith, and devotion to her family will never be forgotten.
