She was born Carolina Moreno on June 12, 1933 in San Antonio to Jesus Moreno and Josefina Garcia Moreno. She grew up in San Antonio, and besides living for a few years in Corpus Christi, Baltimore, and North Texas, she had lived there her whole life. She loved her hometown and the many lifelong friends she made there.
In 1960 she attended a dance at the YWCA in San Antonio at the urging of a friend. She was reluctant to go as she had just had braces put on earlier that day. She agreed to go on the condition that she wasn’t going to smile. When she met a young serviceman named Leroy Harvey, she forgot all about her rule. They married on January 30, 1963 and have been smiling ever since.
She loved gardening, painting, shopping and watching classic movies. After their retirement, she and Leroy traveled extensively throughout America and Europe and went on dozens of cruises together. She also loved to dance and never missed an opportunity to dance at a wedding or party.
She was a devout Catholic, and in her later years attended mass almost every day. She had a giving heart and loved volunteering at the Visitation House in San Antonio. She always thought of others before herself and was always eager to offer you something sweet when you visited. She never met a person she didn't pray for.
Caroline’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted mother and Nanny to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending countless ball games, dance recitals, and other occasions. She loved to visit them and have them visit her and always spoiled them with homemade cookies and brownies.
Caroline was a loving wife to the love of her life, Leroy. They were rarely seen not holding hands. Every night, without exception, they would kiss and tell each other “I love you.”
She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years Leroy Harvey of Southlake, TX; daughters Carol Brunt and husband Rocky of Cedar Park, TX and Liz Mozjesik and husband Thomas of Arlington, TX; grandchildren Alex Apolinar and wife Shauna of Aledo, TX, Christine Brunt of Cedar Park, TX, Katherine Garner and husband Grant of Irving, TX, and Julianne Brunt of Cedar Park, TX, Cole Mozjesik and wife Madeline of Dallas, TX, Baylee Newsom and husband Phillip of New York, NY; great-grandchildren Aubrey and Jace Apolinar, Caroline Garner, Meritt Mozjesik and Beatrice Newsom; sisters-in-law Catherine Reeder and Ruth Moore and husband Alan of Halethorpe, MD, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Annie Pratt.
She will be remembered as a kind, caring, selfless woman who loved her family and friends deeply. She touched so many lives with her bright and joyful presence and will be missed by all who knew her.
