Carroll Dean Leu, 80, was born in Fairfield, Iowa on September 7, 1937 to Henry and Hazel Leu. One of three siblings, he was raised in Rogers, Arkansas, where he graduated high school in 1956. Upon graduation, Carroll enlisted in the U.S. Army, honorably serving two years in Germany. Shortly after his discharge, he moved to Fort Worth to work in data processing for Continental Oil Company. The handsome young gentleman met his bride of 55 years, Marsha Robbins of Fort Worth, by asking her to dance at a singles event hosted by First United Methodist of Fort Worth in 1961. The couple married a year later on November 17, 1962, and raised two daughters, Lisa and Leslie, in Arlington. Carroll began working for Tandy Corporation in 1965, where he humbly and tirelessly worked his way through the business to retire in 1996 as vice president of information services after 31 years.
Upon retirement, Carroll enjoyed fishing, exercise and fellowship at the YMCA, spending hours working in the yard and watching his only grandson play football. Never one to miss an opportunity to learn, Carroll waited until his retirement to pick up golf clubs, cherishing the deep relationships he made with his golfing buddies. He also shared his handmade wooden crosses and angels with those he loved. A private man of the utmost integrity, Carroll’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren. Heralded a father figure and one-of-a-kind friend to many, Carroll generously embraced relationships with his whole heart, always making time to listen and encourage others. A wise man of true character who relied on his faith in God, he wholeheartedly believed in always being honest, owning up to mistakes and looking for the best in others. A longtime member of First United Methodist of Arlington, Carroll’s life motto was “Always do what’s right.”
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Hazel, as well as his sister, Dolores Johnson and brother, Robert Leu.
Carroll is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marsha, daughter Lisa Leu and LD Crumly, daughter Leslie Lookabaugh and son-in-law John Lookabaugh. His pride and joy were his three grandchildren, Meagan Lasitter, Sarah Kate Lookabaugh and Jack Lookabaugh.
