Although Charles moved to Arlington in 1955, his Arlington roots ran deep, going back to his great-great-great grandfather, who served in the Civil War, and is buried in Parkdale Cemetery. Charles graduated from Arlington High School in 1957 and attended UTA and TCC.
He met the love of his life, Carmen Elliott in 1955 and they married five years later, and spent the next 58 years together. Charles joined the Arlington Fire Department in 1959 and after a short break, he returned to a life-long career until his retirement as a Battalion Chief in 1999. Upon his retirement he bought an RV and proceeded to enjoy his dream of traveling the country. In 2006, Charles and Carmen found their “home away from home” in Couer d’Alene, Idaho. They returned for the next 11 years to join their Idaho friends and get away from the Texas heat.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carmen; son, Jason; daughter, Dawn; two granddaughters; and two great grandsons.
No Services will be held.
Charles’ wish was to be cremated and his ashes spread around his favorite places in the Northwest.
