Charles Peter Reynolds, 87, of North Richland Hills, Texas, went to be with his Lord and savior on Friday, January 17, 2025 after a long illness. Charles was born on January 1, 1938 in Redondo Beach, California to Leroy (L.B.) and Elizabeth Reynolds. He grew up in Hermosa Beach, California and was the tenth of eleven children. He graduated from Mira Costa High School and later earned two bachelor’s degrees, one in Theology and one in Economics. He loved learning and attended classes at over 13 different colleges over the years.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. In 1962, he married Shirley Fuller, and they had two children, Brenda and Darin, and was loved dearly by his family.
He held a variety of jobs over his lifetime. One of his most notable jobs was as a high school math and science teacher at a small Christian school. He was well loved by his students and one year, the students even voted to dedicate the yearbook to him. In his early 50’s, he went back to school to study to become an x-ray technician and he worked in this field until he retired in his early 70’s.
Charles was known as a gentle and humble man of integrity and deep faith in God. He was a giving man who always prioritized the needs of others over his own. He was beloved and respected by all who knew him and yet he never lost his inner child. He loved to have fun and always enjoyed a good laugh. As a child, he was curious and intelligent, and as an adult, he loved to tell his many stories about antics and adventures from his youth.
He was very handy and if he didn’t know how to fix something, he would work on it until he figured it out.
He loved the outdoors. He had a special love for the mountains and the Redwood forests of northern California. He also had a soft spot for animals and loved feeding the backyard squirrels that became regulars in their yard. His cat, Pepper, was his constant companion, and she brought him much joy.
He also loved watching sports, especially football. He grew up a fan of the L.A. Rams, L.A. Dodgers, and U.S.C. football, then became a Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan after moving to Texas in the 1980s.
He is preceded in death by his parents, all ten of his siblings, and his son, David “Darin” Charles Reynolds.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Reynolds, his daughter, Brenda Olson (husband, Kurt), and his grandchildren, Cameron Olson and Brittany Olson, as well as many other loved ones.
Charles’ loss leaves a huge hole in the hearts and lives of his family and he will be deeply missed.
