Born March 14, 1931, Bloomberg, TX - Passed March 8, 2023, Arlington, TX
Charles L. (Bill) Seale was the third child in a family of five boys and two girls. He grew up in the Cass County area of far NE Texas. He started working at an early age with his dad at in a saw mill, where he developed a deep appreciation for mechanical items and how to keep them running. As a survivor of the Great Depression and World War II, he understood lean times and how to preserve through them. Being raised in the piney woods area of East Texas, he learned about living off the land by hunting and fishing. He developed a lifelong love for fishing that was his primary hobby far as long as he could pursue it. As a young man he met Evelyn Riley at the local roller rink in Atlanta, TX. They were married on February 11, 1949 and stayed devoted to one another over the past 74 years.
Bill’s early jobs included saw mill hand, log truck driver, and Texas and Pacific Railroad employee. Bill and Evelyn had three children. Gary and Terisa were born in Atlanta, TX in the early 1950’s followed by a daughter named Becky, in Fort Worth, TX. Realizing that the family was separated too much by the T & P job, they moved to Arlington, TX, where Bill went to work in new General Motors factory in Arlington, TX in 1954. He was a very proud, hardworking do-it-your-selfer, carpenter, and mechanic. He never called for help until his latest years. He loved working in his yard (with his wife’s loving direction) and it was always pristine.
Charles and Evelyn became Christians in the mid-1950's in a local Baptist church. They were members, faithful attenders, and workers in Bethel Baptist Church for decades. Charles also served on the deacon board at the church for a number of years.
Realizing that the money sometimes ran out before the month did, Charles earned a barber license and supplemented the family income by working on Saturdays and when GM shut down for their annual model year changeover. He used his carpenter skills to enlarge their home in North Arlington on three separate occasions. Bill was adamant that his children be in school every day, and not just be there, but bring home A’s on their report cards. The big event every summer was the annual vacation, which was composed of a camping trip to a local lake or the mountains of Colorado. Bill always had a fishing boat through the years and was a frequent visitor at Like Arlington, Grapevine, and Lake Whitney. He ran trotlines, trolled for sand bass, and fished for perch and largemouth bass. In the early 1980’s he bought two acres at Lake Whitney in anticipation of his retirement. They traveled throughout the West after he retired in 1984 in their travel trailer. Eventually, the trailer became a second home at Lake Whitney where he fished and farmed. Fishing and farming were his two big post working career delights.
Bill was always greatly pleased when all the children, gran-children and great grandchildren came to visit. He especially liked to cut up with the little ones and make them laugh.
He was preceded in death by his father Walter Jarvis, his mother Cecil, brothers; Russell, J.W. (Bubba) Bobby and Wayne, sisters Carol McAskill and Joann Harrison. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Seale, son; Gary Seale and spouse Sue of Austin, daughters; Terisa Seale Coates and Becky Seale Costello of Arlington. He has six grandchildren; Shane Judd of Joshua, Jennifer Seale of Austin, Allison Jackson and
spouse Michael of Austin, Amber Marek and spouse Chris of Grand Lake, CO, Kale Coates and fiancé
Brooklyn of Rhome, Texas and Angela Swindell and spouse Adam of Arlington. Seven Great
Grandchildren; Sydney Judd, Keegan Coates, Gwyneth Jackson, Jude Jackson, Andrew and Avery
