Cheryle Lucinda Hall “Cindy”, 72, passed away on September 3, 2026, in Arlington Texas. Born on October 31, 1953, in Collin County, Texas. She is survived by her children; Jennifer Del Angel & family and Michael Hall; her sister-in-law, Leesa Oglesby & family, and her dear best friend Maria Guerrero & family, who held a special place in her heart nearly her entire adult life. Cindy’s memory also lives on through many other cherished family members and loved ones including her Stepmother Selma Grantland, Siblings Freda Harwell, Vicki Jones, Brenda Sivley, Freddie Steel, and Greg Steele. Throughout her childhood, she shared her home with many foster children, forming bonds and memories that remained a meaningful part of her story. Cindy also sought refuge for 3 children who were orphaned at her church in her teenage years, who then later became her adopted siblings - two sisters who preceded her in death, twins Sharon and Karen Nichols, and an adopted brother Ronnie Nichols who continues to carry his shared memories of Cindy today in the world. Although they all became estranged later in life, they too were part of the family she carried in her heart. Cindy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Steve Hall; her cherished dachshund Oscar, her biological father Rubie Clarence “Joe” Crowe, her biological mother Cheryle Dawn Nelson Nichols, and her adopted father Jerry Wayne Nichols. Cindy was also the mother of a child born during her teenage years, whom she had no contact with after birth. She carried the memory and love of that child throughout her life. Though their story remained unfinished and surrounded with unanswered questions, the child remained an integral part of Cindy’s heart. Cindy attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas Texas and graduated in 1973. She attended El Centro Eastfield Dallas County Community College from 1973-1975.She obtained a paraprofessional degree as a Teacher’s Assistant with Dallas ISD and served the Dallas Independent School District as a faithful employee from 1982 – 2001 across three different schools including Herbert Marcus Elementary; Thomas C Marsh Middle School; and Edison Junior High School. As an active parent working within the school district, Cindy served public education in her community the entire time her children attended public schools. This afforded Cindy the opportunity to spend summers with her children, having pool days with tuna fish sandwiches and taking trips to museums, roller skating rinks, going bowling, and visiting zoos all summer long. She continued her work in the service sector, working as an administrative assistant, receptionist, and secretary for various companies until she retired.
Throughout her life, Cindy found joy in giving and caring for others. She was rarely seen sitting still. She was more than an amazing mother and parent; she gave all of herself to make sure Jennifer and Michael had the childhood she never had. She was a thriving and active parent. She served as a Girl Scout troop leader, adult trainer, and event organizer for over 25 years and continued the work with Girl Scouts even after her daughter aged out of the program to help girls in her community. She volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America for nearly 8 years. Through her work in scouting, Cindy helped grow and nurture the lives of hundreds of young girls and boys and gave gifts to her community through Halloween carnivals, hosting events at the local recreation centers, organizing Santa gifts for needy families during Christmas time and so many many other things. Cindy loved to jazz up her clothes, often adding her own sequins, lace and trim to shirts and making them her own. She was always seen with statement jewelry - a bright long necklace or broach on her shirt – accenting her quirky personality. She loved to wear bright colored glasses and stand out in a crowd. Cindy met her husband Steve after being introduced to him by her best friend at the time – Steve’s sister Leesa. Steve and Cindy’s connection was instant, and they married a short 6 months after meeting one another. One of the greatest joys in her life was her husband, Steve. Steve became a source of unconditional love, safety, and stability in her adult life she desperately needed after surviving a traumatic childhood. After retirement, Cindy spent most of her time with her husband Steve laughing at his jokes and with her precious dog Oscar. She moved to Arlington Texas in 2017 to be closer to her daughter as her need for help increased. She loved acting as a “second grandmother” to Jake Britton, Aubrey Stepter and Evelyn Stepter. She took so much joy in seeing them witness new experiences in life and loved hearing stories about their lives. She became friends with Adelita Del Angel and Gloria Rodriguez, and the three of them would spend evenings shopping and became known as “The Golden Girls” in the family. After years of declining health and a difficult final chapter, Cindy was placed on hospice care in the summer of 2026. She passed away in her bed surrounded by the people she loved. Cindy’s life was not always easy but she loved deeply, laughed often, and found meaning in the people she called family. May she finally be free from the pain she carried for so many years, rest peacefully, reunited with Steve in his loving arms. Her story continues as a testament to her resilience – a life that held unimaginable pain, but also love, laughter, family, and the lives she touched along the way.
