Chris grew up in Mansfield, Texas and was a graduate of Winston School. He also attended Hill College. His passion was rodeo and started ridding bucking horses as a youngster. He was a High School all-around champion. In 1996, Chris joined the PRCA in order to pursue his dream of becoming Champion Bareback Rider and that is exactly what he did. Over the next 20 plus years, he traveled the world, participating in thousands of rodeos. He qualified for the National Finals Rodeo 6 times and he won many NRF rounds. His favorite win was the Calgary Stampede. Chris was also a breeder of bucking horses as well as operator of High Court Breeders, a successful deer breeding operation.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, Christopher J. Harris, Sr. and his brother, Courtney Johnson-Harris.
He is survived by his daughters Halley Preece and husband Pistol Preece, and soon-to-be born granddaughter Parker Jane Preece, Jesse James Harris and her mother, Stephanie Harris, his mother, Tammy Allred Harris, his brother Don Harris and wife Adriane, Justin Harris and wife Amy, his sister Heather Harris Heftler and husband Jerry, together with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends all over the world.
A celebration of life for Chris will be held at 11:00 a.m. on April 3, 2018 at Cowboy Church of Ellis County at 2374 U.S. 287 Access Rd, Waxahachie, Texas 75167.
