Born November 28, 1927 in Star, Texas, Clinton graduated from Hamilton High School in 1945. In 1948, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. While stationed in New York City, he met the love of his life, Angelina Scotto. The two married in 1951, and following his honorable discharge from the Coast Guard in 1952 at the rank of Damage Controlman Second Class (DC2), returned to Texas to begin their life together. He continued serving in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves until 1955.
Together, Clint and Lee raised two sons, Clinton Jr. and Bryan. Clint dedicated 28 years of service to the United States Postal Service while also devoting countless hours as a servant leader to his community. Through the Arlington Optimist Club, he coached and mentored young athletes in football and baseball, including his own sons, selflessly investing his time and mentorship in generations of children. He was an active member of the Fort Worth chapter of the Texas Association of Sports Officials, officiating Middle- and High School football games throughout North Texas, and volunteered extensively with Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops in Arlington, including those attended by Clinton and Bryan - at one point serving as Scoutmaster.
Following his retirement from the Postal Service in 1990, Clint and Lee moved to Runaway Bay, Texas, where he became a lifetime member and chaplain of the Wise County Veterans Group. During this chapter of life, he worked part-time with the United States Department of Agriculture, conducting surveys across much of North Texas. Outside of work and service, Clint found joy in woodworking - building furniture, toys, and keepsakes by hand, fishing with his grandson Andrew, and spending time on the golf course as an avid golfer and active member of the Runaway Bay Club.
In 2011, Clint and Lee moved to Fort Worth and became members of Gateway Church. After decades spent working, serving others, and raising a family, they enjoyed a quieter season together, cherishing time with loved ones and welcoming their first great-grandchild in 2021.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Clinton’s memory by giving your time, and if able, your financial support, to a local volunteer organization or program of your choosing, continuing the spirit of service he so deeply valued and instilled in others.
He is preceded in Death by his Son Clinton Jr., wife Angelina, sister Cloreece, niece Connie, his father Connie (C.C.) and mother Beulah (Bobbie).
He is Survived by Son Bryan, grandson Andrew, his wife Kailea, great-granddaughters Stephanie and Sadie, great-nephews and niece Clay Roach, Todd Roach, Leslie Wang, and their families.
