Cora Isabel Vasquez, 86, passed away on August 23, 2026. Born March 24, 1940, in El Paso, Texas, Cora was the daughter of J. C. and Adela Douglas and attended Jefferson High School. She later made her home in Arlington, Texas in 1969, where her life was marked by steady devotion, quiet strength, and a deep commitment to those she loved.
In 1955, Cora married Diego Vasquez, and together they welcomed four children. As a military wife for over 20 years she devoted herself to her family, and when her children were grown, she went on to hold various jobs—approaching each season of life with the same reliability and determination that defined her care for others.
Cora’s happiest moments were often the simplest ones: tending a garden, cooking for those gathered around her table, and spending time with family. She also found joy in fishing, boating, camping, and shopping—interests that reflected her appreciation for both the outdoors and the everyday pleasures that make a life feel full.
Above all, Cora will be remembered for the way she loved—fiercely and without hesitation—and for a grace that made forgiveness come easily. She consistently placed family before herself, and her warmth drew people in; it was natural to want to be near her, to know her, and to call her a friend. To many, she was the ultimate Mom and Memaw, whether related by blood or simply by the bonds she created through kindness and care.
Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Diego Vasquez, and her son, Robert Vasquez, parents J. C. and Adela Douglas and her sister Adela Marquez.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Dobbs (Jim), Darlene Vasquez, and Linda Wade (Joe); her grandchildren, Lauren Keefe (Sean), Elisha Dudley (Josh), Kaylene Mendez (Jon), Dylan Vasquez (Adylan), Jason Soto, Brandon Soto, Sean Soto, Bobby Thacker, Brian Thacker (Sabastian Williams), Brenden Thacker (Teresa), Lindsey Mojonnier (Tom), and Adam Williams (Megan Schultz); her great-grandchildren, Baily Thacker, Brooklynn Thacker, Brantley Thacker, Cailey Campo, Ethan Campo, Myles Campo, Jaxon Williams, Jaelyn Williams, Watson mendez, Charlee Mendez, Journey Vasquez, Jaxson Vasquez, Emery Vasquez, Scarlet Soto, Caleb Soto, Mason Soto, Mia Soto, Aleena Soto, Jillian Soto, and Emma Soto; and her great-great-granddaughter, Brianne Isabel Espino.
Cora will be laid to rest at Moore Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington.
