Danny David DeWees, 67, of Arlington, TX, passed on away September 10, 2019. Danny was born in Fort Worth on July 10, 1952 and was the first-born child of his loving parents, Marvin and Glynnetta. He graduated from Eastern Hills High School and attended UTA for some time as well. He was married to Debbie Jordan (now Davis) for 18 years and they had 2 children together, Autumn and Derek. Danny worked in the “food biz” for most of his career, from managing Winn-Dixie grocery stores to working in food sales for several of the top companies in the D-FW area.

Danny loved the outdoors and spent many vacations exploring some of our nation’s most beautiful national and state parks. He loved animals of all kinds, and always had a dog by his side, most recently his beloved Collie, Monty. He was blessed to have friends that stayed by his side since his high school years. Ron Preusse and Harley Cline have been through thick and thin with Danny during their 55-year friendship, and good friend, Jim Bates, joined their crew some years back. He loved his family very much and was a doting Granddaddy to his granddaughters, Lillian and Alina. Danny always had a great story to tell and was usually the smartest person in the room, able to rattle off facts about nature, animals and many other topics he was passionate about. His love of nature led to a hobby in nature photography and many photos that his family will treasure.

Danny DeWees is survived by his daughter, Autumn Melcer; his son, Derek DeWees; grandchildren, Lillian and Alina Melcer; brothers, Randy and Jay DeWees; sister, Marsha Nance and his beloved mother, Glynnetta DeWees; and preceded by his father, Marvin DeWees.

Danny’s memorial service will be held at 2 pm, September 15 at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Big Bend Conservancy would be a great way to honor Danny. Donations can be made online at: https://bigbendfriends.org/node/163

As a fellow family member of such a large group of Montgomery’s, even one loss of any of us leaves a great gap. Being able to spend LOTS of time with the DeWees family through the years, especially the 3 boys gives me many awesome memories. From the start, Danny the eldest was somewhat a leader in trying to keep things on track. Through the years as we become older, he was so congenial to myself and all of our families. This behavior was real not fake by any means exemplified from what he learned from his parents .
We bless him as our God does to also include blessings to Danny’s family, especially their sweet mother, Glynetta.

In the last year or so our father’s life, I would often pick Danny up when I would go over to see him and my mom. We had a lot of talks about life, family, politics, etc. I realized that him and I were more alike than I thought. I’m glad I had that time with him. He was a great big brother, I will miss him the rest of my life.
